I'm a native Southern Californian (Please don't hold that against me) born again in the Pacific Northwest. Back in 1999 shortly after my wife, Doris, retired we decided to cruise the pacific Northwest in our boat so we brought her up the coast from San Diego and berthed her at John Wayne Marina in Sequim. Our intention was to stay up here for three years, do some crusing then head back down south. We were in Sequim for three months before we decided to forget ever leaving.
Now maintaining a 46-foot wooden boat fitted with two diesel engines and a diesel generator does not leave much time to putter about with hobbies---I had plenty to do.
In 2004 we decided that living aboard boats for 30 some years was enough so we sold Orion and bought some land in Sequim and built a house (Doris deserved it!) Now I don't have so much to do.
I was a Design Engineer for 40 years and creative juices flow like the Dungeness River---they never stop, and one likes to keep his hand in and skills active. So now I occupy my time and restless fingers by building little things from the materials at hand and up here that's wood. I kind of like my pieces, but then I possess a certain propriatorial bias, and just enough ego to hope that other people will enjoy them too.
