"I love the American Pacific Northwest
in which I live. I believe in capturing its spirit rather than
accurately depicting its natural beauty. I wish to express the soul of
its waterfalls, mountain peaks, forests and clouds through my choice of
colors and brushstrokes. I think that this classifies me as an
Expressionist, even though my representational work wears a rather
painterly Impressionistic coat.
But it’s obvious that my paintbrushes speak different messages depending on the mood of the scene, as well as on my own mood: sometimes restful and serene in color and rendering, sometimes bright, energetic, uninhibited and almost flamboyant. Either way, I wish to express my unbridled enthusiasm for this piece of heaven on earth."
