Louisa Smith-Adam
Always
working in in oils, on site whenever possible, I focus upon a wide
range of subjects and locations. Each subject, a landscape, a person,
a still life, contains unique intrigue. I paint in response to that
mystery, have always carried a sketchbook for the same reason.
When a pre-teen, I took classes from Ann and George Jenkings, associated with the Norton Gallery in Florida; it was then a small gallery with a remarkably varied permanent collection. The Jenkings, their encouragement and friendship, that Gallery and its collection, are among my clearest memories, and are among the most treasured.
A few years ago, my family and I moved from Florida to Port Hadlock. Finding such a strong, (and importantly, supportive), artistic community on the Olympic Peninsula was an unanticipated pleasure. I have taken classes and painted in this environmentgoing on six years. It is wonderful, as are the surroundings.
